Brand design for Hakuhodo BranCo! 2023

  • Our team competed in the ‘Brand Design Contest 2023’, placing in the top 20 out of 300 teams nationwide. This was conducted as a part of the ‘Brand Design Studio’ project; a collaboration between Hakuhodo(博報堂, Marketing Company) and University of Tokyo.
  • The theme was to design a brand focused on ‘Happiness‘, and we proposed ‘Puff’ume: 香ミュニケーション’, inspired by fragrance.
  • This concept was developed from lifestyle-to-beauty market research, employee/student interviews and surveys, behavioural observations, personal recordings, etc..
  • The resulting idea was ‘Aromatic Break’, reflecting the growing interest in fragrance among young people, in reference to cigarette breaks(タバコミュニケーション) at work/school.
  • The appeal point was a design that could provide comfort while eliminating the harmful image of smoking. The sales format was decided to be a vending machine to emphasise the simplicity of the product.
